My internship at the Foreign Service Academy has been a transformative period of learning, growth, and immersion in the world of diplomacy. From gaining first-hand experience in the complex workings of international relations and understanding how Kenya interacts with the global community to working alongside professionals and engaging with local and international stakeholders, this opportunity has provided invaluable insights into the core values and principles driving diplomatic engagements. Representing the Academy at high-profile events and interacting with diplomats and decision-makers allowed me to appreciate diplomacy’s role in advancing national interests, fostering strong bilateral and multilateral partnerships, and building networks. Through tasks such as preparing memos and letters for officials, I honed my ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively, combining technical and creative skills to ensure impactful contribution.
