The Foreign Service Academy is charged with the responsibility of providing and enhancing capacity building, spearheading foreign policy research and consultancy and contributing to the development of medium and long term strategies for articulating Kenya’s foreign policy.

Consultancy in foreign policy research and analysis help inform decision making and support continuous improvement in service delivery of any organization. In line with this mandate, the Academy will deliver consultancy in foreign policy for the line Ministry, the whole of Government and clients in the private and public sector.  The Academy will use its own pool of professionals and experts or collaborate with other experts/institution  in various fields to conduct consultancy projects.

The following guidelines have therefore been developed to govern all consultancy works by the Academy.

1. The Academy is committed to support clients through engagements that facilitate research in foreign policy and analysis as well as knowledge transfer;
2. The Academy shall provide conducive environment that encourages its staff to come up with innovative ways of identifying, sourcing and delivering consultancy services as a strategy of generating extra income;
3. The Academy shall identify and source for Consultancy opportunities for the development of the knowledge base;
4. The Academy will be open to collaborations with other entities which provide related services; and
5. The Office of the Director in charge of Foreign Policy Research and Consultancy shall be responsible for coordinating the consultancy services.
